You were dismissed. Here is where you stand.
Whether you were sacked, forced to resign or retrenched, you usually have a short window to act, and options you may not know about.

How an unfair dismissal claim works
The route is the same across Malaysia. The court that hears it depends on where you are.
- Lodge a representation
You ask to be reinstated in writing to the Director General of Industrial Relations, within 60 days of your dismissal.
- Conciliation at JPPM
An officer meets both sides to see if the matter can be settled. Lawyers do not represent you at this stage.
- The Industrial Court
If there is no settlement, the matter is referred to the Industrial Court, which decides whether the dismissal was with just cause.
- The outcome
The Court may order your job back, or back wages and compensation instead. What fits depends on your facts.
Find your way around
If a letter, an ultimatum or a retrenchment notice has just landed, a short message tells you whether there is something worth acting on, and how long you have.
